The World Road Association (PIARC) is a non-political, non-profit association founded in 1909 to promote international cooperation in the field of roads and road transport. In 2018, PIARC has 121 member governments.
Since 1908, PIARC has organized a World Road Congress every four years. The purpose of this congress is to provide a forum for professionals from around the world, whether they are involved in the development, management or operation of roads and road transport, to assess the progress made in different countries, to discuss current problems and challenges facing the road sector and to share their knowledge.
The XXVI World Road Congress will take place in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), from 6 to 10 October 2019. It will include some 40 sessions, a large exhibition, technical visits and a social program.
